The first side from this concert from the International Trombone Workshop at Belmont College in Nashville, featuring the ITA’s Frank Rosolino Scholarship winner, followed by Don Lusher, Alan Kaplan, Wayne Andre, and Jimmy Cleveland, playing with the Beegie Adair Trio (local Nashville musicians).

The last tune from May 3rd, 1989, followed by the first two selections from the following week, at Ephraim’s in Sudbury, Massachusetts. The musicians are Jimmy Mazzy (banjo/vocals), Fred Lind (cornet), Paul Meymaris (clarinet), John Kafalas (tuba), Milt Steinmetz and Don Frothingham (piano), and Stu Grover (drums). The selections are “Who’s Sorry Now,” “Breezin’ Along With the Breeze,” and “If I Had My Way.” These last two tunes appeared in program #15, back in 2008 — however, they should sound better in this program, because I have a better digital audio converter than the one I used to use when I originally started the Jimmy Mazzy & Friends podcast. This program is Part 4 of the session recorded on May 3rd, 1989 at Ephraim’s restaurant in Sudbury, Massachusetts. The musicians are Jimmy Mazzy on banjo and vocals, Fred Lind on cornet, Dr. Paul Meymaris on clarinet, myself John Kafalas on tuba, Carol Moeller on piano for the first tune, after which she turns over the Steinway to Milt Steinmetz, and Stu Grover on drums.The selections are all in the key of C, starting with a tune I’m not sure of the name of, followed by “East of the Sun,”  “Maybe You’ll Be The One To Care,” which was written by Milt Steinmetz, followed by one more song the name of which escapes me. The Stow Festival Chorus and Orchestra perform the Mass in E-Flat by Franz Schubert. Conductor: Barbara Jones. Soloists: Margot Law, soprano; Mary Redford, alto; Brian Gilberti and Jim Sopchak, tenors; and Peter Thomas, bass. I’m playing first trombone, probably on my Yamaha alto.
